In the early morning hours of March 4, 2010, Darren Richard Swayne passed away suddenly.  He was born on March 23, 1968 in North York, Ontario, Canada

He was one of four children of Richard Edwin and Lois Ethel Bernard Swayne.  He was the beloved husband of Teresa Leonard Swayne for almost 13 years.  Darren will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers Steven (Diane) Swayne and Jason (Carolyn) Swayne, loving sister Louise (Jim) Brynildson, beloved grandmother Dehlia Finchen, treasured nephews and nieces Kyle and Kayla Swayne, Jenny (Nick) Specht, and Chris and Katie Candilora, caring in-laws Roger (Joanne) Nelson and Kathy (Rodney) Fryer, along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were blessed to know him.

Darren graduated a year early from Jefferson High School in Bloomington, Minnesota and continued his education at the University of Utah where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Darren loved to play and coach ice hockey and was the only freshman to make the Varsity hockey team at his high school.  He also coached his younger brother’s Junior team and made many lifelong friends.  He operated Postnet Mail Service in Mesquite, Nevada, where he enjoyed working and getting to know the residents of the community. He always had a smile for his customers.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd (7600 S), Cottonwood Heights, with a viewing on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. and the day of the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.  Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to NAMI Utah, 450 S 900 E, Suite 160 1st Floor, Salt Lake City, UT 84102-2981 or www.namiut.org.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Darren's death. Although I haven't talked to him in quite some time, we had alot of good times back in High School. I will always remember him as he was a big part of my life back then. My (and my families) thoughts and prayers are with his family during this extremely difficult time. Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed!

Dear Swayne Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Darren. He was a great person and a good friend to me when I was at a down point in my life.

In the early 90s, we spent many an afternoon watching them build the Mall of America off his deck and commiserating about our problems. Those were the days of the big truck and big hair! As housemates, we had plenty of adventures as young men do. I am just sorry we wont be adding any more memories.

Farewell Buddy.

To his family, my sympathies are with you as you struggle with this profound loss. He was a great guy and he will be missed so much. And thank you for making his life special.

Dear Swayne Family,

Warmest regards and condolences on our loss of Darren. It is hard to see the reason behind losing him so young, but unfortunately we don't get to make the rules. I am certain he will be missed by many.

Darren and I were very close in High School and he was a great man. I am saddened and grieved by the news. I only wish we had been in contact these last years.

God bless you and yours and thank you for your kindness to me as a young man. I lost my father when I was thirteen, and you were most kind to me during that time. My prayers and thoughts go out to Darren and your family.

To Heaven with Godspeed Darren, I will see you on the other side my brother...

Truly,

Dave
