Darren Richard Swayne

3/23/1968 – 3/4/2010

In the early morning hours of March 4, 2010, Darren Richard Swayne passed away suddenly.  He was born on March 23, 1968 in North York, Ontario, Canada. 

He was one of four children of Richard Edwin and Lois Ethel Bernard Swayne.  He was the beloved husband of Teresa Leonard Swayne for almost 13 years.  Darren will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers Steven (Diane) Swayne and Jason (Carolyn) Swayne, loving sister Louise (Jim) Brynildson, beloved grandmother Dehlia Finchen, treasured nephews and nieces Kyle and Kayla Swayne, Jenny (Nick) Specht, and Chris and Katie Candilora, caring in-laws Roger (Joanne) Nelson and Kathy (Rodney) Fryer, along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were blessed to know him.

Darren graduated a year early from Jefferson High School in Bloomington, Minnesota and continued his education at the University of Utah where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Darren loved to play and coach ice hockey and was the only freshman to make the Varsity hockey team at his high school.  He also coached his younger brother’s Junior team and made many lifelong friends.  He operated Postnet Mail Service in Mesquite, Nevada, where he enjoyed working and getting to know the residents of the community. He always had a smile for his customers.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd (7600 S), Cottonwood Heights, with a viewing on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. and the day of the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.  Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery.
