Susan Stevens Boyer was born in Ephrata Washington on January 28, 1947 to James David Stevens and Marilyn Rae Hite. She grew up on a farm in Moses Lake, Washington and attended school there through high school. Susan later attended Brigham Young University.
Susan married Theodore "Ted" Boyer on August 25, 1967 in the Oakland temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Susan loved people and had many close friends throughout her life. She treated all people as children of God and willingly served others throughout her life. Susan also served in her church in Young Women, Primary, teaching, and as Ward Relief Society President. Susan once said, "Family and friends made my life sweet".
In later years, Susan and Ted served two Spanish-speaking inner-city service missions and met many wonderful people from all over the world.
Susan also had an adventurous side having backpacked to the top of Kings Peak, hiked the full length of Zion Narrows, and ran the St. George marathon. Susan traveled to many parts of the world and marveled at the wonders of this Earth. She also loved reading, gardening, walking in her neighborhood, quilt making and house-boating on Lake Powell.
Susan worked with disabled children at Butler Elementary for 20 years and is remembered affectionately as the "grey haired lady".
Susan was blessed to have had a loving and joyful life. It was based in her love of her Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. She lived with faith and trust and confidence in their plan for her and for all mankind. This also made her life sweet!
Susan is survived by her husband, Ted, her four children: Jennifer Jacobs, Jeffrey David Boyer, Ann Boyer and Matthew Ted Boyer and five grandchildren.
Susan would like to express appreciation for the excellent and kind care received from Utah Cancer Specialists, LDS Hospital, the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Solstice Hospice.
