Leo Garry Blunck, beloved father, grandfather & faithful friend, passed away on March 30, 2026 at his home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Garry was born on May 26, 1936 in Menan, Idaho, the second of 4 children born to Leo and Irene Blunck. As a boy and young man he was bright, inventive, athletic, hardworking and achieving. He possessed a high standard and moral compass that directed his life and choices. He had a love for basketball, earning an athletic scholarship to Idaho State College. He also loved building and fixing anything and working hard to acquire the things he desired. While attending Madison High School, in Rexburg Idaho, Garry met the love of his life, Beverly Stoddard. Their young love grew into a deep and enduring love and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 31, 1957. He marveled his entire life that she would choose him to be her sweetheart. Together, they built a life centered on loyalty to God, family and hard work. Garry had a military career that included serving in the Vietnam War as a pilot in the 119 Assault Helicopter Company as well as flying NATO lines in Germany. He retired as a Colonel in the Utah National Guard. Through the years they were blessed to welcome 3 children into the world. Garry was a devoted father who created and built a wonderful home for his family to enjoy. He nurtured his family with kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication. He lovingly set an exemplary example of trust in God, obedience to covenants and service to all those he interacted with. Garry's life was deeply rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he faithfully served in many callings throughout his life. He loved those he served in his calling as a Bishop and they in turn loved him. Garry also served in Stake Presidencies and as YM President, as well as a full time missionary in Athens Greece with his sweetheart companion Beverly. He loved the temple and found great purpose in family history, genealogy; always striving to link generations and strengthen eternal families. His testimony guided everything he did, and he lived his covenants and discipleship actively serving, lifting and loving others with sincerity and devotion. Garry is remembered for his strength, obedience, personable nature, warmth and kindness as well as an unwavering testimony of the Savior, his friend. He lived his faith fully and openly and his life and his legacy is a reflection of his devotion to service, compassion and Christ like love. He was a passionate patriot and loved the United States of America and had an appreciation for the principals and tenants it was founded on. He had a strong and vibrant presence, and his influence will continue to be felt in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children Kelly Olsen (Lance), Mark Blunck, Stefanie Anderson (David), 12 grandchildren Camron, Allie, Landon, Amanda, Katie, Devin, Autumn, Ellie, Drake, Izzy, Zeb, Emmie and 8 great-grandchildren Dexter, Lily, Jack, Violet, Vaughn, Maeve, Wells, and 1 more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, his parents Leo and Irene Blunck, his siblings Margene, Don and Ranae.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the love and support during this time. Garry’s life was marked by his deep love and care of family, the joy of enduring family bonds and his devotion to all that is sacred and precious. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. "Until we meet again" There will be a viewing on Friday April 3, 2026 from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm followed by funeral services at 1:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 2895 East Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights. Graveside services at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery on 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights following the funeral.
