Linda Parker Long, age 84, our loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026.
Linda was born on October 13, 1941, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to the late Newland “Shorty” Parker and Della Parrish Parker. She married the love of her life, Barry Kent Long, on September 19, 1965, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship.
Linda is survived by her son Kent (Brianna) and daughter Leah (Jeff); her grandson Keaton; her granddaughters McKinley, Katelyn, and Kelsey; and her sister Rhonda Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Kent Long, Sr., and her sisters Shirley Lanier and Peggy Rouzer.
Linda raised her family in King, North Carolina, where she worked as a kindergarten aide until 1983. The family later moved to Rowlett, Texas, in 1983, and then to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1985. While living in Salt Lake City, Linda became a devoted member of Southeast Christian Church, where she formed many cherished friendships and faithfully served by helping prepare many meals.
Linda worked as a reservationist for Continental Airlines and retired in 2001. She loved playing bridge, cooking southern meals, gathering with friends for Friday night meals, and staying connected with those she cared about most.m Above all, Linda’s greatest joy was spending time with her four beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Southeast Christian Church, 1881 E. Vine Street, Murray, Utah 84121.
