Marian Mikel Florence Wright

November 23, 1943 — May 25, 2026

Marian Mikel Florence Wright, 82, passed away on May 25, 2026 surrounded by her family in West Jordan, UT at Jordan Valley Hospital from a sudden illness.

She was born November 23, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilmer Henry Florence and Mabel May Wilkinson. Marian was the eleventh child of fourteen siblings. The Florence family lived in Millcreek, Utah on Oakwood Street where she attended Olympus High School.

Though Marian met the love of her life, Robert Jensen Wright, when she was only 8 years old when her sister, Lila began to date Robert's brother, Jerry. Both families enjoyed seeing a picture of Jerry and Lila's wedding with Robert in the back and Marian in the front long before the two fell in love many years later.

When Marian turned 18 years old, the courtship began and she married her best friend, Bob, in the Salt Lake City Temple June 21,1963. The two brothers marrying sisters created double cousins which Marian always thought was so fun.

The Wrights have lived in the Salt Lake Valley their entire married life of fifty-six years. Marian greatest joy was being the mother of their seven children: Michael Glen (Maureen), Ken Alden (Malinda), Robert Jay (Rebekah), Anthony Scott (Laura), Roger Alan, Elizabeth Jane (David) and Thomas James. She also fostered many children over the years following her "momma's" example.

Even as a young child, Marian loved people, songs and music. She was frequently heard singing and encouraged others to join in. Marian loved children. She had such a talent to create and make even the simplest things fun and silly. Marian's was loved for her sense of humor and kindness to others. She had a place in her heart for animals of all sizes and a deep appreciation for all the creations of God. She loved the outdoors and loved to take long walks.

Robert was always very generous to share his mechanical skills with anyone in need. Marian made them feel welcome and fed as Robert fixed (and of course test drove) their cars, motorcycles, trucks. These skills from Bob and Marian were passed down to all of their kids who all can still fix stuff or feed folks as needed.

Marian was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings over the years but absolutely loved serving with Bob on several service missions at Deseret Industries and the LDS Employment Center. Later in life, she worked at the Jordan River Temple for many years and rarely missed visiting every week.

Marian loved to share the gospel almost as much as she loved to jump in the car with Bob and go for long car rides while listening to country music and sharing their favorite snacks.

Marian will be greatly missed by her 17 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. Her greatest gift was to make people laugh and love the life in general.

Marian is preceded in death by her spouse Robert, son Thomas and grandson, Creighton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 30, 2026, 1:00 pm at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South), Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm.

Rest in peace mom and grandma.
