Nila Saxton Davis died of complications after a stroke on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Our House Assisted Living Center at 1615 West 12894 South, Riverton, Utah. Nila was born February 13, 1924 to Margaret Venice Jackson and Charles Wesley Saxton in Coalville, Utah. She died at the age of 86 years.  She was raised in Evanston, Wyoming and married Joseph Frederick Stevenson on January 14, 1943 in Evanston, Wyoming. He was killed in the 2nd World War.

 

On April 25, 1946, Nila married Ralph Hovard Davis in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed in the L.D.S.  St. George Temple on August 4, 1984. Ralph died June 15, 2005 in West Jordan, Utah. Their children are Venice Jensen (Allen), Julia Orvin (Jack), June Whitman, and Hubert Ralph Davis (Jane); 15 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and a sister Gloria.

 

Nila was raised in Evanston, Wyoming. Her life centered around her children, her grandchildren, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and her husband. She enjoyed reading, decorating her homes and doing crafts.  Ralph built the homes and Nila decorated them.  She served in the St. George Temple as a greeter.  They lived in Evanston, Wyoming; St. George, Utah; Lynnwood, Washington, and Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

 

A viewing will be  held Saturday, February 20, 2010, 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.), Salt Lake City, Utah followed by the funeral at 1:30 p.m.  Nila will be buried in the Coalville City, Utah Cemetery alongside Ralph (at approximately 3:30 p.m.).
