Funeral Recording

William “Bill” Howard Jensen returned to his Father in Heaven on Monday, June 28th at the age of 84. Like everything else in life, Bill faced his challenges with Parkinson’s Disease head on.  He was born in Price, Utah on May 7, 1937 to James Howard Jensen and Hazel Naomi Heaston. Bill realized at an early age that he had a knack for making connections with people and he worked many jobs as a young man. As a teenager, he worked for Kennecott Copper moving railroad ties making a wage of $1.27/hour. In his early twenties, he worked for the United States Postal Service where he won an award for delivering mail faster than any of his colleagues. He was also a salesman extraordinaire… selling everything from life insurance to Bernina sewing machines to aluminum siding to baby swings. His business opportunities throughout the years took him to Bellevue, Washington; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Plano, Texas; and San Jose, California.  In the 1970’s, he found his true passion and successful career in the health and fitness industry. He partnered with Ken Melby and Robert Rice to operate Spa Fitness Centers (which later became Lifestyles 2000) until he retired in 2004. Bill had a magnetic personality and was a great mentor, example, motivator, and listener.

Bill cherished his many years of faithful service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He seized every opportunity to share his testimony of the Savior. He was an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, leader, missionary, and friend. He loved when all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came together to spend time together. Bill treasured his time spent on the golf course with his friends and family. His signature convention laugh was contagious, and he was the life of the party. Whether he was known as “Wild Bill” or “Brother Bill”, he made a lasting impact on all those he met.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Betsy and his children Chris Jensen (Soni), Cindy Connell (Brad), and Bevan Flink (Ryan). He is also survived by his sisters Nedra Nielsen (Ken) and Peggy Cole (Chuck), and his brothers Don Jensen and Tom Jensen. He was so incredibly proud of each of his 10 grandchildren and his 16 great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his mother Hazel Naomi Heaston, his father James Howard Jensen and his former spouse, Joan C. Glover.

Bill is an incredible missionary and advocate for the gospel of Jesus Christ. To honor his legacy, please reach out to somebody that you’ve been thinking about or feeling you need to connect with. This is what Bill would do.
