Viola Ann Noorda Ward, 92, passed away May 9, 2021 in West Jordan, Utah. Born June 21, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Anna Sieverts and Hilbertus Noorda. Graduate of South High School. Married Kent R. Ward, June 24, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Her life was about service. Served as a Temple Worker for over 40 years and served others faithfully right to the end. She was a seamstress extraordinaire, sewing wedding and prom dresses and men’s suits, in countless numbers. She also sewed costumes for the stage. In final years she sewed and knitted caps and hats for hospitals and newborns. She also loved quilt making, ceramics and porcelain dolls. White teddy bears adorned her Christmas tree, each representing her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by children, Jannene (Dick) Kovach, Sherilyn (Jack) Pectol, Lynnae (Kirk) Ellsworth, Steven (Marla) Ward, Gaylene (Gordon) Madsen, Hollyann (John) Rogerson, Dallan (Lori) Ward, Julee (Ron) Laukat, Lauri (Neil) Hancey, Russell Ward, 41 grandchildren, 124 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren. Sister, Naoma Nilsson, brothers, Norman (Sharon) Noorda, LaMar Noorda, Leon (Katherine) Noorda, Ronald Noorda, Daniel (Noma) Noorda. Preceded in death by husband, parents and brother, Albert Noorda.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at the Bingham Creek Stake Center, 8539 South 2200 West. A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment Elysian Burial Gardens.
