Scott Whitney Castleton, passed away suddenly on December 13, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born August 12, 1956 in Provo, Utah to Richard Lowell Castleton and Delma Jean Fullmer. He married the love of his life, Melanie Taylor, on October 19, 1977 and were sealed for time and all eternity on December 15, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Scott was one of a kind. He took pride in working hard at everything he did. From weekly yard work to putting up Christmas lights, he wanted to make sure he did it the best he could. For the last few years, Scott found a love in driving a bus for Canyons School District. He loved each and every student that would walk through his door, and would cry at the end of the year when he would have to say goodbye. He was one of the biggest Utah fans you will ever meet, and enjoyed nothing more than having his grandkids there with him to cheer and eat a lifetime supply of popcorn. His dream came true when he was able to attend the PAC 12 Championship with his sons and grandsons to watch his beloved Utes finally earn that trip to the Rose Bowl. The games won’t be the same without Grandpas patented “GO UTES!” after the national anthem. He truly was a Utah Man sir! He loved classic rock music, especially Kansas, Loggins and Messina and The Beatles. He loved having a part time job at the old Salt Palace because he got in free to so many amazing concerts.

But what Scott loved and cherished most was his family, especially his 6 precious grandkids. He lived for them. Utah games, trips to Fish Lake, walks to the playground, rides in the wagon and hugs were some of the best moments of his life and are memories they will have forever. He had immense pride for his 3 children and the lives they had created for themselves and he never let a day go by without making sure we all knew how much he loved us. He can never be replaced.

Scott was survived by his wife, Melanie Taylor Castleton, sons Adam and Matthew, daughter Emily Dahl (Brian), grandchildren Anthony Castleton, Brynn Dahl, Maddox Castleton, Jaycee Dahl, Nora Castleton and Hayes Dahl, and his mother and father-in-law, who he loved as his own, Tom and DeeAnn Taylor, brother Stephen Castleton (Donna), brother Gary Castleton, sister Suzanne Gersch (Doug), and sister Becky Shortell. He is proceeded in death by father Richard Lowell Castleton, mother Delma Jean Fullmer Castleton, and brothers Roger and Mark Castleton.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kent Meredith and the Cardiology ICU team, ER staff and Paramedics at IHC in Murray for everything they did for our dad. Funeral Services will be held Saturday December 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Midvale East Ward, 7250 South 300 East, Midvale, Utah. A viewing will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E.
