Sam Winston, our loving husband, father, and grandfather peacefully passed away at age 61 on September 2nd, 2020.
Sam was born on August 13th, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kenneth Mitchell and Vera Lindbo. He was married to Lisa Jane Winston on May 20, 1993 and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple January 17, 2009.
Sam was a kind, patient man who was always looking for ways to make others laugh and be happy. He had a love for animals and his best friend was his dog Sadie. He was an amazing father who became a dad to many that were not his own. He is very loved and will be missed greatly by anyone who knew him.
Sam proudly served in the United States Navy from 1981 to 1990 as a Gunners Mate on the USS Denver, USS Callaghan, and USS Harry W. Hill. He has always embodied patriotism and loved his country deeply. He also spent time roofing and drove truck long haul across the United States for over 20 years.
His greatest joy was being with his family and loved to be around them no matter the occasion. One of his favorite places was the family cabin where he loved to sit by the campfire, listen to the river, and play cards with family late into the night. Earlier in his life he was a phenomenal roller skater and dancer. He also enjoyed baking and cooking which became his main hobby after being diagnosed with cancer in 2018. He has always loved children and had a great relationship with his granddaughters.
Sam was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved his Savior.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, his children: Shawn, Jenni, Haven, and Tieson, his grandchildren: Victoria, and Adrianna and his beloved dog: Sadie.
