Graveside Service Recording

Robert Axel Greenwall Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and dear friend, passed away with his loving family at his side. He had celebrated his ninety-first birthday in June, with most of his family in attendance. Drive by birthday greetings!

He was born on June 5, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the only child of Robert Axel Greenwall Sr. and Mabel Beulah Greenwall. He was their beloved “Bobby”. He honored his parents. He grew to love people and playing the organ. He also loved to hunt birds. He had a faithful dog, Prince, who, after Bobby was accidentally shot, came back sixty miles to re-unite with his master, after he was left behind. The ambulance took him, but failed to take Prince.

A week later, as he was laying in his bed, he heard a scratching at the door, and there was his dog, Prince, with bloody paws, but happy to see his master!

As Bobby grew, he met Ailene, and they grew to love each other. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 15, 1948. Bobby became Bob or Robert, and even though his parents still called him Bobby, most other people called him Bob. They were Bob and Ailene. He was nineteen and she was seventeen when they married. Steven, Sharon, Connie, Brent, Paul and David were born in a twenty-one year time frame.

Bob worked at Ariel Davis then became the CEO at Electro Controls. He invented dimmer switches for major stage productions. He also invented the raising podium. He helped develop and market a suction device for amniotic fluids in newborns. He also helped invent the laser-cauterizing scalpel. He was always trying to find better ways to help people, especially in the medical field. He served on the Board at Alta View Hospital and helped develop The Woman's Center. He also helped find and develop the IMC Hospital in Murray. He took organ lessons at the Tabernacle and played that organ. He was an usher at the Tabernacle during General Conference sessions. He served as a Bishop and a Stake President in the Butler Stake. He served as a Mission President in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Mission from 1980-1983.

He also served as a Regional Representative. He was an Institute teacher at Westminster College, at LDS Business College and also at the University of Utah.

He is and always will be loved by all who meet him. He had a stroke on September 21st, and when he recovered a bit, he was greeted by his daughter by, “Dad it is so good to see you alive!” He replied, “There are too many quality people to love! I don't want to leave yet.”

He is survived by his wife, Ailene Greenwall, his children, Steven Greenwall (Debbie), Sharon Peterson (Duane), Connie Crayk (Lee), Brent Greenwall (Cindy), Paul Greenwall (Carrie), David Greenwall (Heather). Twenty-six grandchildren and forty-nine greatgrandchildren.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. for family and close friends. It will be held at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East, 10600 South. Masks required.

In lieu of sending flowers, show love and kindness to all you come in contact with. Do it in loving remembrance of Bob Greenwall.
