Richard Prelip

Richard A. Prelip, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on April 1, 2021.

Born May 5, 1945, Kanawha, Iowa to Carl Prelip and Mary Anderson.  Married Jolene Harris on March 1, 1964, Belmond, Iowa.

Richard graduated from Iowa State with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  He worked hard as a Computer Engineer for Sperry/Unisys.  He loved nature and enjoyed backpacking with his family and friends.  He mostly enjoyed the Unitas but oftentimes went to even more remote places.  He turned backpacking into an art.  He loved taking pictures of nature.  His favorite pastime was spending time with grandchildren.  He loved watching their soccer games and simply watching them at backyard parties.  He loved to tell the grandchildren about the birds in the backyard. Richard was laid back and got along with everyone.

Survived by his children Jeffrey (Annika) Prelip; Kristine Prelip; grandchildren, Harley, Reagan, Orion, Foyler and Bexley; brother, Ron Prelip.

A memorial service for Richard will be held on Thursday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. The service will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
