Obituary

Marilyn Meranda Niederhauser passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022 not long after her 92nd birthday.

Marilyn was born in Roosevelt, Utah on October 23, 1930 to Charles Meranda and Ruth Barker Meranda, the third of five children. She graduated from American Fork High School in 1948. She spoke fondly of the Class of ‘48 and always stayed in contact over the years.

Marilyn married Robert “Bob” Niederhauser and together they had 4 children, Brenda, Robert, Terry and Jeff. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 62 years together.

Marilyn enjoyed working in the Young Women’s program and the Relief Society of the Cottonwood Eighth Ward for many years. She had a passion for the Utah Jazz and attended many games over the years with her best friend Faye. Marilyn loved to get to know people and kept in touch with neighbors and friends always. She had a special love for young people and often spoke fondly about her grandchildren and other young people she knew by name. She made an effort to get to know the young people who worked at The Coventry, her assisted living home where she spent her final years.

Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was concerned with each one. She has spoken often about missing Bob the past 10 years and was looking forward to reuniting with him. She will be missed by so many.

Marilyn is survived by two children, Brenda (Bill) and Jeff (Jan), her brother, Tom Meranda, and 11 grandchildren and also great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, her sons Robert and Terry, her grandson Justin, her sister Sally, brothers Jon and Stephen, and many much-loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and aunts and uncles.

Thank you to all the people at The Coventry and the health care workers who gave Marilyn amazing care these past few years.

Marilyn will be laid to rest next to Bob at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery in a private burial.
