Kent William Gomm

March 13, 1956 ~ August 4, 2022 (age 66)

Obituary

Kent William Gomm returned too soon to his heavenly home on August 4, 2022.  He was dearly loved by so many people and will be missed for his goofy humor and big heart.

Kent was born in Provo to Kenneth & Dorothy Gomm, second of seven children.  He grew up in Roy Utah spending time teasing his siblings and participating in all kinds of sports.  He loved skiing and he was the guy you’d see “hot-doggin’” on the slopes.  He attended Roy High School where he participated in football and track & field.  He competed at Snow College in pole vaulting, sprint relays and the 200 yard dash.  He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Padova Italy.  After returning home, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management at Weber State.

It was on his mission where he discovered he had a gift for learning languages.  Kent loved all things Italian and was often mistaken as a native.  During his adult life, he continued to learn other languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Greek and German.

Kent worked in various businesses. He enjoyed being a DJ for dances for many years.  He worked at Visa International  in Maryland translating for Italian clients.  He also worked as a service writer, lift operator & ski patrolman, car salesman, and he eventually retired from the IRS where he excelled as a business & accounting tax customer service representative.

It was during high school where he developed his never-ending love of cars—his favorite being his Corvettes and his 1955 Chevy Bel Air.  If it has wheels, he loves it and can probably fix it.  At one point, he and his dad had over 100 vehicles parked at his family farm. He could name the year make and model after seeing a car for 10 seconds.

Kent is an excellent dad and is very protective of those he loves.  He fiercely loves his kids--they are his world.  Kent is at his happiest surrounded by his kids, grandkids and amazing partner, Sandi, who will miss him more than anyone can imagine.

Kent is the life of the party and fun to be around.  He has an infectious laugh and a quick sense of humor.  We love listening to him speak with different accents including his Scottish brogue.  His impressions of Kermit the Frog & Fozzy Bear were spectacular.

Kent is survived by his children Kiera (Cameron) Hull, Kolton Gomm, partner Sandi Call, grandkids Cecilia and Atticus Hull, mother Dorothy Gomm, siblings Connie (Wes) Long, Debbie Gomm, Curt (Janette) Gomm, Deanne Gomm, Cordell (Lynette) Gomm, Teresa (Bret) Cutler, and bucket-loads of nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his dad, Kenneth Gomm and Heather Long (niece).
