Janice Casull

January 19, 1936 — July 11, 2021

Cottonwood Heights

Our dear mother, caring grandmother, loving great grandmother, helpful friend, and neighbor to so many passed away the evening of July 11, 2021.

Janice was born on January 19, 1936 to Glenn and Edith Brown James. Janice attended East High School and graduated from the University Of Utah College Of Nursing in 1959. Janice married Don Charles Casull on August 22, 1961 and President N. Eldon Tanner later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple.

Throughout her life, our mother was sincere and socially active within her community. Mom engaged with many organizations, and PTA was one of mom’s favorites. For over 20 years, she served in several schools as Health Chairman. Mom was a registered nurse serving L.D.S. Hospital for 40 years, where she took exceptional care of her patients and their families. Mom was charming and personable, quick to make friendships for a lifetime with all who crossed her path.

Janice and Don were blessed with five creative and wonderful children; Steve (Tammy), Kathryn (Deanna), John, Ann (Cody), and Mary (Klay). Mom was always our biggest fan and supportive with our many activities. Mom went above and beyond, and her generosity shined-on-through, with her grandchildren – Tyson, Colby, Marissa, Jackson, Sabrina, Lauren, and Piper. Mom was fortunate to spend time with her two endearing great grandchildren, Liam and Sage.

Mom was always upbeat and positive, her motto with life was to “Enjoy your life and count your blessings each day. Remember always, if you like yourself, your love will shine through to others.”

Her parents preceded Janice in death, along with her husband, Don, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Jeri Casull. Janice is survived by her five children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and many cousins, wonderful friends, and close neighbors.

Respecting our mother’s requests, private family services will be held in her honor with a celebration of her beautiful life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Deseret Foundation for the Intermountain Medical Center or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

There is only one Janice in this world, a true one-of-a-kind. Janice’s contagious laughter and her zest for life will be sorely missed. Everyone will especially miss her style and exceptional earrings. We love you mom, and we will see you again on the other end of the rainbow.
