Irmgard Schuttler

March 14, 1936 — February 19, 2021

Our dear Mom, Oma, friend, family member and acquaintance of many passed away in the comfort of her home, as was her wish, as was honored, in the loving arms of Jehovah God, she as a faithful Jehovah’s Witness forever.  She was born in Nikolausdorf, Bukowina, to Adolf Schuttler and Karoline MunzSchuttler.  She grew up in Cologne, Germany, after the war ended, along with most of her siblings.  In 1959, she immigratedto California where she met Gerhard “Jerry” Arndt, a fellow German, later divorced.  On Thanksgiving Day, 1972, the family arrived in Cottonwood Heights, UT, where she remained until her passing, always with a view of her beloved Wasatch mountains.  Irmy had many, many talents, some of which as a self-taught cook and baker with culinary abilities out of this world, seamstress galore, she could sew anything (she owned Irmy’s Creations for many years, specializing in interior decorating and window coverings), gardener, extensive traveler, and a devoted member of Snowbird’s Oktoberfest since the early ‘70’s.  However, the top of her passions by far, and which brought her the most happiness, was being a Mother and Oma.  She lovingly leaves behind her daughters, Deanna Boyd and Silvia (Modesto) Matheu, and her grandchildren, Marcus Boyd, Andre (Alina) Boyd, Chantal Matheu and Conrad Matheu.  She is survived by her remaining siblings, Joseph Schuttler, Adelheid Woodhead, Erika Reed and Alfred Schuttler, preceded in death by Hildegard, Adolf and Richard.  The incredible Matriarch of this very large family of 11 children was Karoline.  Irmy’s wish has always been to see her Mutta and three little sisters, Herta, Viktoria and Ernestine, who sadly died before the others were born, and after the resurrection help her build their home, which she really could accomplish.  A Celebration/Remembrance of Life will take place at a later date.  We wish to thank everyone at First Choice Hospice, BrightStarCare Service and Cannon Mortuary for taking care of her with such genuine love and kindness, and all the beautiful well wishes sent from truly wonderful people who remain in our lives.
