Gary Wardle

January 15, 1941 — June 5, 2020

Gary Howard Wardle passed away June 5, 2020, in Sandy, Utah, after a long goodbye from Alzheimer’s disease. We would like to thank Hospice and the wonderful caregivers at Wentworth at Willow Creek for Gary’s care the last 3 ½ months of his life. He was born January 15, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Howard and Bernice Wardle. He married the love of his life, Garda Lund Wardle, on March 13, 1964 and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Gary graduated from South High School in 1959. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the North-Western States mission. He served in the Army Reserves from 1959-1966. He worked for Consolidated Freightways and Landstar Trucking in dispatch and sales. He traveled all over the world with his wife. He loved the University of Utah basketball and football programs and the Utah Jazz. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Pamela, and brother, Rand. He is survived by his wife, Garda, daughter, Gina (David) Maxwell, and daughter, Jill (Kayle) Loertscher. Gary’s siblings are Pamela (Larry) Barnes, Clifton (Joann) Wardle, Shawn (Marie) Wardle, Val (Ted) Sproul, and Kent Wardle. He had 10 grandchildren: Justin, Adam, Kevin, Alex, Spencer, Stuart, Kade, Kelton, Sierra and Hannah. He had 5 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Booker, Peter, Rowan, and baby boy Maxwell.

A viewing for invited friends  will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Wed. June 10, 2020 from 11-11:45.  Graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S.
