Vernal Richard Sorensen, beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, passed away on November 23rd, 2022 at his home with his family after years of declining health and medical conditions.
Born October 24, 1954 in Pocatello, Idaho to L. Richard Sorensen and Norma June Wardle. Married Kristine Adams on May 12th, 1977 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Vern served an LDS mission in the Wisconsin / Minnesota area. He served many roles and callings within the church such as counselor in the Bishopric, High Priest group leader, and several teaching positions.
He enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms, reloading ammunition, reading, camping with his family, and above all, cheering on the BYU Cougars sports teams. Vern was an encyclopedia of knowledge and trivia facts gained from his love of reading. He was always ready with a fact or joke whenever the opportunity arose.
After returning from his mission, Vern and his father founded and operated a Real Estate and Commercial Finance Business. He ended his working career as a salesman with RESCO, Restaurant Equipment Supply Company.
Survived by Wife: Kris; Children: Daniel, Lisa (Steven Sanders), Mathew, Jacob (Kelsy); Sisters: Leslie Sorensen, Sheila (Mike Carson), Jane Ellen Solomon, Nedra (Tony Bell); Sisters-in-law: Kathy (Phil Gammell), Debi Adams; Brothers-in-law: Allen Adams (Kari), (Sharon), Gary Adams (Cindy), Garth Adams (Sue); Grandchildren: Kaylee “Bug”, Kimberly, Blake and Makenzie. Preceded in death by: Son, David Andrew; Brothers-in-law: Todd Solomon, Mike Adams; Sister: Linda Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29th at 11:00 am. Glenmoor 8th Ward, 4200 West Skye Dr. (9800 South) South Jordan.
Visitation will be held at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South) Monday, November 28th from 6 to 8 pm and the day of service one hour prior at the Glenmoor 8th ward.
