Verl William “Buck” Buxton
1936 – 2015

Our beloved husband, father and brother, Verl William “Buck” Buxton, passed away March 3, 2015 from injuries sustained in a fall, November 2014.  Buck was born during a snowstorm February 7, 1936 to Clyde V. and Vivian L. Buxton on a farm in Garland, Utah.

He grew up in Butlerville and married Mary Lee Wilkinson in 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

In 1962 he became a proud member of the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s office, becoming one of the founding members of the Canyon Patrol and serving many years with the Salt Lake County Search and Rescue.  He also spent many years living and working in West Yellowstone.  He loved Hebgen Lake, Baker Hole, Pinedale, Bryce Canyon and his mine in Cardiff Fork.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lee, children, Corey, Cyle (Kelli), Angela Fairbanks (John) and Casey (Michelle) 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and brother Fred Buxton.  Preceded in death by parents, brother Vern, sister Shirley Taylor and infant son, Casey.

A #1 fan of the Bar J Wranglers.  He also loved his Apple Valley Ward, snowmobiles, four wheelers and old Jeeps.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, 12:00 p.m. at the Orchard Park Ward, 7035 South Nutree Dr . (3350 E.)  Visitations will be held, Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.
