Theodore Edward Granger, affectionately known as “Ted-e/Teddy,” a loving father, grandfather, and best friend, passed away on May 27, 2025, at Sunrise of Holladay.
Born April 21, 1936, in Cedar City, Utah, to Archille Granger and Ruth Braithwaite Dedrickson. Ted and Millie met while working at the State Tax Commission at the State Capitol. Teddy finally asked Millie out, and after dating for only 6 months, they were married on July 13, 1959, and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
After leaving the State Tax Commission, Teddy, his brother Gordon, and Cecil Bohn started Computer Associates, a data processing center. After a successful career, he helped his son Lance start Lancer Automotive.
Teddy served honorably for 8 years in the United States Naval Reserves and was proud to serve his country.
He was part of the Scouting program for 10+ years in the ward. He also loved the gospel and was very active in the ward in various positions. He loved everyone in his ward area and made many friends along the way.
Teddy grew up as an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He went camping, dirt-biking, and snowmobiling with his sons at every opportunity.
The auto shop was a big part of Teddy’s life. He loved working with all the guys there and always said they looked out for him. He also enjoyed the day-to-day part of being there and interacting with all the customers, friends, and ward members who frequented the shop. He was always very concerned about the pricing that friends and ward members would need to pay and would ensure they had the “Teddy discount”. It became a big part of the pricing structure there and would always cause the team to chuckle or roll their eyes and say Yes, we know Teddy, they will get the Teddy discount, which made him very happy.
Teddy and Millie each had their own strengths. Teddy was mellow and a happy-go-lucky guy, while Millie was feisty and a bit of a spitfire. Together, they were a perfect match. Teddy and Millie loved their boys and were proud of the men that they have become, telling them often.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful ward members and friends who have helped care for and monitor Teddy since Millie’s passing.
The family would also like to thank the folks at Sunrise of Holladay, who helped Teddy through very trying times. A special thanks goes to Ashley of Sequoia Hospice, who cared for Teddy like a family member.
Survived by sons, Lorin (Shelley), Lance (Kim), grandchildren, Jensen Granger, Heather Rivera, Matthew Bate, Jason Scherbel, Brooke Thiede, Jen Roberts, Taylor Granger, and Bry Granger.
