1940 Terry 2025

Terry Lue Haueter Glad

September 14, 1940 — September 10, 2025

On September 10, 2025, Terry Lue Haueter Glad, at the age of 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. She spent her last days surrounded by her loving children.

Born on September 14, 1940, in Heber, Utah to William Ray and Deaun LaRae Clyde Haueter, Terry was the oldest of seven girls. She was raised in Wasatch County until the family moved to Sugarhouse where her father took a job at the Sugarhouse Prison. She loved to tell stories of the time her family lived and played on the prison grounds. During Terry's teenage years the family moved to their home in the Steffensen Heights neighborhood of Cottonwood Heights. The same neighborhood where Terry would later raise her own family.

As a young woman, Terry and her sisters, "the Haueter Sisters," were a talented and well-known singing group in the Salt Lake valley. They often performed at a wide variety of events including local radio and television programs. She loved music and no family reunion was ever complete without a performance from the Haueter Sisters.

Terry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and on April 3, 1962, she chose to marry her sweetheart and eternal partner, C. David Glad, in the Salt Lake Temple. Terry and Dave bought a home in Cottonwood Heights where together they raised six children who were brought up on principles of faith, honesty, work ethic and unconditional love.

Terry lived a life of service to others. In addition to raising her own children she often opened her home to extended family and friends who for one reason or another needed a temporary home and the love of family. She served faithfully in a variety of church callings and especially enjoyed assignments in the Primary and Cub Scouts where she could work with and teach children. She loved the many years she spent as a mentor to young people in the 4-H program and the Boy Scouts of America where she was able to teach skills such as sewing, cooking, gardening, homemaking and a variety of other agricultural skills.

As a young adult, she served a Stake Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, Terry and Dave served together as missionaries, proselyting in the Tallahassee Florida Mission; teaching English in the Salt Lake City Spanish Initiative Mission; and serving in the Family History Library. Through her example, Terry taught her children to love and serve others.

Terry had limited time for hobbies, but she always enjoyed camping with her family, singing, reading, crocheting and other forms of hand-stitching. She was an extremely talented seamstress and spent countless hours sewing for others and teaching her skill.

Terry is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dave, her parents, and her sisters Dixie, Dianne and Judy. She is survived by her sisters Linda, Carole and Susan; her children Claudia (Dan) Wilding, Heather (Frank) Letters, Joseph (Gina), Andrew (Terilyn), Charlotte, Dave, and Tonja; Sixteen grandchildren and Twenty-three great grandchildren.
