Tamara Troester

My dear mother, Tamara (Tammy) Lynn Barker Troester left her struggles behind on September 4th, 2011 at the age of 56, and joined her sister and parents who she missed for most of her life.  My mom’s parents both died in Moab, Utah, when she was very young and she spent the better part of her childhood in the Foster Care system.  In 1974 she was married to David Ortega and she had a beautiful son named Gabriel, life led them in different directions and in 1984 she married my father Kenny Troester.  They really loved each other.  She was very beautiful and loved life.  She and my father raised my dear brother Gabriel (Gabe) Ortega till he graduated high school.  Gabriel loved his mother very much.  Many people loved my mother and she forged many friends over the years.  Many of those friends left this earth before her as their demons ravaged their lives.  My loving Aunt and Uncle, Dennis and Kathleen did much to help my mom as she could no longer care for herself.  I want to thank my Aunt and Uncle, Mike and Mary too.  Also to the many Ortega’s who were there throughout the years, and the many care givers that made my mother comfortable, we owe much gratitude.  It was my mother’s wish that my brother and I take her ashes to Dead Horse Point in Moab, Utah, where her sister fell to her death, and spread her ashes on the wind, so that she can be free once again.  Much love to you mother, you will be missed more then you will ever know. Preceded in death by her parents, Cordelia Eileen Weichlein, Keith LaVar Barker and her sister Kay Barker.

Tammy is survived by her son Gabriel Ortega, her daughter Devina Eileen Troester and her brothers, Dennis (Kathleen) Barker and Mike (Mary) Barker.
