Funeral Recording

Robert Emmet Harriman Sullivan

Stephen Holmes Duckworth, age 70, passed away and returned to his Heavenly Father on December 25, 2019. Stephen was blessed with his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Duckworth, his son Gavin Duckworth (Jessica), son Brandon Duckworth (Camille), and son Darren Duckworth who had previously passed and is now reunited with his father.

Steve has also rejoined his parents Ray & Dorothy Duckworth along with his sister Denise who have all passed previous to Steve. Steve is survived by his three brothers Brad Duckworth (Marianne), Doug Duckworth (Diane), Tracy Duckworth (Lorie) and his sister Michelle Van Leeuwen (Scott).

To add to Steve’s many blessings he was also blessed with 10 grandchildren Maliyah, Hunter, Madison, Kyson, Aspen, Jayden, Savannah, Jaxon, Emma, and Austin who were the light of his life and gave him such joy. Whether it was Nerf gun fights, watching their sporting events or a simple game of chess, Steve loved being with his grandchildren.

Steve was known as a jokester and the life of the party. He loved the Boy Scouts, University of Utah Athletics, Utah Jazz, and most importantly the Dallas Cowboys.

Steve had a passion for participating in sporting activities most his life. He played football and threw the Javelin in High School, becoming All-State in Javelin as well as winning a state championship in the Javelin in 1967. Steve went on to graduate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.

The job Steve cherished the most was the role he had for AT&T setting up and managing the Telecom for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Being a part of this event and being able to attend various Olympic events was something he loved reminiscing about with his family and friends.

Steve was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many roles. The role that gave him the most joy would by far be serving in the Boy Scouts of America. Whether it was serving as the Scoutmaster for many years or his role serving the Refugee Scouts out of Salt Lake City, UT, scouting was a big part of his life and something he was passionate about and left lasting memories and skills with all those who were lucky enough to have known him.
