Richard Cary Ure, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend left this earthly life due to health complications. He suffered courageously for many, many years while battling his health and left this life to join his parents, brothers, sisters, and friends that preceded him on June 15, 2023. He fought many health wars and was victorious so many times, even when it seemed impossible to win. He showed everyone how to endure to the end and push through hard times. His battle is done, and it was time for him to come Home! He can now do one of the things that he was very passionate about, share his love of our Savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. Look out spirit world, he’s coming!

Rich was born to Harold and Elizabeth Ure, on January 15, 1949, in Salt Lake City, UT. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities within the church and loved teaching the gospel. He always had a way to bring the scriptures to life and help you feel the love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for each of us. He loved having discussions about gospel topics and enjoyed diving into their meaning and application in life. Rich had a way of turning any conversation, from politics to cars and anything in between, into a gospel discussion.

He built and owned Factory Flooring Direct in Lake Point, UT.  He was a true entrepreneur.

Rich served in the Air National Guard.

He is survived by his loving wife, MaryAnn of 50 years and his children:  Patty & Brad, Rick & Terina, Brandon & Sydney, Michael & Cheya, Matthew & Brecke, 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything and would help support his family in any way he could. The love he had for others was never questioned. He would be there when you needed him and sometimes when you didn’t realize you did. He did his best to follow promptings, especially when it came to his family. He LOVED his FAMILY!!

He loved coaching soccer and had a great love for the game! He had so many wonderful memories with his boys and their teams, playing games, going to tournaments (especially the Surf Cup) and just having fun. He may have been a bit rowdy at times, but all his players knew he loved and cared for them. This was always a great time in his life and spoke of it often with fondness.

Rich grew up having a love of cars and that passion carried with him throughout his life. Each year it seemed that he would get a new vehicle, not for show, but because he loved cars, trucks, motorcycles, three/four wheelers, side by sides, etc. Pretty much anything that had custom wheels and a good sounding motor! We have so many memories of times at the dunes, the trails, and the track with him. Those times will be missed.

Richard was an entrepreneur and knew how to start a business. He left behind a legacy in the flooring business that continues on today. That business has provided not only for him and his family, but the many employees he’s had over the years. He was an incredible salesman, businessman and always knew what he wanted. Even when times were tough, he always found a way to get through and survive. His motto was and is, “THE IMPOSSIBLE ONLY TAKES A LITTLE LONGER”.

Richard will be deeply missed, but we know he is in a better place and doing the Lord’s work in a way he could not in this life. We may never know how much good he did in his short lifetime…

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 22 at 11:00 at the Erda Utah Stake Center, 1050 West Erda Way. The viewing will be Wednesday, June 21 from 5:00-7:00 at the Erda Utah Stake Center and the day of the service from 10-10:45 a.m.  Cannon Mortuary Funeral Directors.
