Poul Kristensen

POUL ERIK KONNERUP KRISTENSEN
1932 - 2017

Our beloved Papa, Poul Erik Konnerup Kristensen (84) passed away on Jan. 3, 2017, surrounded by his loving family that will miss him greatly.

Poul was born Nov. 18, 1932 in Krustrup Denmark to Peter Kristian Kristensen and Sara Konnerup Kristensen.  He attended schools in Krustrup and Hjørring and spent most of his young life helping with the family farm where his 9 siblings were born. After being taught the Gospel by two missionaries, he joined the LDS church with his family. At the age of 17, he joined the Danish Air Force where he spent 5 years in Electronic Studies.

He married Ingrid Marian Jensen in 1955, and brought her to the United States the same year.  She later died from heart complications.  Poul then filled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Central States Mission. He later married Anni Hasbo and had 4 children. They later divorced. He married Kathleen Howard and were sealed in the Salt Lake, Utah Temple on Jan. 21, 1983. He worked for Stabro Laboratories for many years and ran his own T.V. repair business before that. Poul was an earnest, kind and hardworking man who found joy in serving his fellowmen and fulfilling many hours of service to the church where he served in many callings, including: Bishopric, Stake/Ward Missionary, Church Humanitarian Center, among others. He was much loved by all his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen and children Anne Marie (Todd) Poulsen, Erik (Andrea) Kristensen, Alan (Lois) Kristensen, Alice (Per) Lindgaard, Stephanie (Jim) Fullmer, Amy (Kevin) Curtis, Suzanne (Scott) Jones, David (Victoria) Topham.  31 Grandchildren (grandson, Poul H. is currently serving in the Philippines, Quezon City North mission) and 23 Great Grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings Karen (George) Mickelsen, Doris (Gary) Andersen, Maria (Tagg) Hundrup, and Richard Kristensen, Inger (wife of Kristian) Konnerup and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ruth (Einer) Jensen, Elna Kristensen, Per (Betty) Kristensen, Kristian Konnerup, Anna (Herbert) Redd, Barbara (wife of Richard) Kristensen, and 1 great granddaughter Jordan Poulsen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at noon at the Brighton 3rd Ward Chapel, 2301 E Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.  A viewing will be held from 10:45 to 11:45 AM prior to the services.  A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cannon Mortuary at 2460 East Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
