Phillip Ralph Green

July 10, 1928 – January 6, 2013

Phillip Ralph Green, our dear husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully and unexpectedly of a brain hemorrhage on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

Phil was born on July 10, 1928 in American Fork, Utah to Phillip Wesley Green and Leah Alice Bush.  He married Eva LaRae Ellett Green in the Manti Temple on July 23, 1954, shortly after they both graduated from Brigham Young University.  Phil was in ROTC at BYU and became an officer in the USAF, serving his country for 30 years primarily in Alabama, Virginia, Japan, Vietnam, England and Germany. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Phil loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and teaching the gospel was a passion throughout his life.  He served as a missionary first in the Swiss-Austrian Mission (1949-51), and with his eternal companion and sweetheart, LaRae, in the Munich, Germany Mission (1991-92).  He served in numerous Church callings, including district presidency counselor, branch president, bishop's counselor, high counselor, Jordan River temple worker, and, his favorite calling, gospel doctrine teacher. One of Phil’s final mortal acts was to publicly share his testimony while attending church services at his ward in Murray, Utah.

Phil is survived by his wife, LaRae; sons:  Phillip (Vonja), Michael (Lecia), Darryl (Yuko), Richard (Joanie); daughter, Sharon (Hal); brother, Don (LuAnn); 27 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by twin daughters, LaRae and RaVae; sisters, Elizabeth Wright and JoAnn Jones; and brothers, Jess and Byron.

Funeral Services will be held at the LDS Chapel located at 1160 E. Vine Street (6100 South), Murray, Utah on Saturday, January 12th at 11:00 a.m.  Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South) on Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the place of service.  Interment at American Fork Cemetery.
