Nate Furr

January 15, 1975 — December 22, 2025

Nate Furr. The man. The myth. The legend. Surrounded by family, animals and country music, James Nathanael “Nate” Furr died on December 22, 2025. Nate loved his family, friends, riding bikes, Kansas City Chiefs, Reese’s Cups and good bourbon. Nate loved to tell stories. And you could be sure 50% of every story was true. You just never knew which 50%. The greatest board game cheater. Coach. Athlete. Comedian. Storyteller. Friend. Husband. Son. Brother. Son-in-law. Favorite Uncle. And THE greatest father in the universe to Tylar and Reilly. To know him is to love him. Though, very stoic and a smolder like no other, he could fill a whole room with laughter. The strongest man but couldn’t give spankings without saying sorry before each one.

While attending Arkansas State University he met his wife, Kelly. They got married when he was 20 and began a life of adventure together. He joined the Air Force and they moved to Cheyenne, WY. From there they moved to Jonesboro, AR where he became a police officer, joined the SWAT team and PROWL Unit. He then went on to join the FBI where he excelled through the ranks to Assistant Special Agent in Charge. Along the way he made countless friends in Edmond, OK, Washington, D.C., Chattanooga, TN and Salt Lake City, UT. Nate had so many plans for retirement, but the Lord had other plans. He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain cancer) in October 2022.

Nate is survived by his wife Kelly; his children, Tylar and Reilly; his parents, Jim and Judy; his brothers, Nick and Neil (Denise); his nephews, Austin (Ali), Grant, Noah and Cooper.

In honor of Nate’s adventurous spirit, we will be throwing a celebration of life party with music, laughter and good food in February 2026 in Salt Lake City, UT. Bring your best stories. Details to follow.
