Michael Green

May 22, 1957 — November 22, 2023

Michael E Green, our wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, everyone’s favorite uncle, and best friend, passed away living life to its fullest, while scuba diving at Kona Hawaii on November 22, 2023.  His wife and two of his children were with him.  He was 66.

Michael was born in Montgomery Alabama on May 22, 1957 to Phillip and LaRae Green.  He was born with sunshine in his soul and the spirit of adventure.  He lived every day to its fullest and was always on the lookout for his next adventure.  He loved scouting, dancing, outdoor adventures with friends and family, and pioneer re-enacting.

As the son of an officer in the United States Air Force, Michael lived all over the world and moved quite often.  Growing up he lived in Alabama, Japan, Virginia, Utah, England, and Germany.

In 1976, Michael was called to serve in the Perth Australia mission and served faithfully and honorably for the next two years.

On June 11th 1985 Michael married the love of his life, Lecia Dawn Holladay in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.  Together Michael and Lecia built a wonderful life full of adventures, centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and focused on serving everyone around them.  Michael was an active and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He served in many different callings throughout his life, including young men’s president, scout master, bishop, and most recently, as a multi-stake coordinator for the special needs adult program.

In 1986 Michael graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree, and then received a master’s degree in recreational therapy from Brigham Young University in 1993.  He was soon hired by Utah Special Olympics as the Recreational Director and developed a deep love for those he worked with.  In 2000, Michael made a career change to IT services and finished his career working with Executech.

Michael is survived by his wife, Lecia; mother, LaRae; daughters: Teresa (Derek), and Amy; son, David; brothers: Darryl, and Richard (Joanie); sister, Sharon (Hal); and four grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father Phillip Ralph Green; his older brother Phillip F Green; and his twin sisters LaRae and RaVae.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 1500 East 8600 South, Sandy, Utah.  Friends and family are invited to visit Cannon mortuary Friday, December 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 2460 Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights and at the church where funeral services will be held, Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service.  Interment will be at American Fork Cemetery.
