Funeral Recording

Michael Bruce Davis, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2021 at the age 74, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 10, 1947 in Portland, Oregon to Frank and Jean Davis. As a child he lived in Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. Mike graduated from Hillcrest High School (1965) located in Utah.

He started working at Alliant Techsystems (Hercules) in May of 1968 and worked there for 42 years until his retirement in January of 2010.  For his work career, he was known as “Frizz”.  At the time of his retirement, there was only one other employee at the entire plant with more seniority. During his tenure at ATK he only owned a total of three vehicles.

Mike deeply loved the great outdoors. This passion led him to many backpacking adventures, which resulted in him summiting Mt. Rainer (multiple times), Mt. Shasta, Mt. Hood, Mt. Whitney, Granite Peak, and all the tallest mountains in the western states. He also climbed many of the Colorado fourteeners. He enjoyed trips to Wind Rivers and climbed Gannett Peak, and Grand Tetons. For majority of these trips, he was accompanied by his brother Frank and nephew Troy. To stay in shape for all these climbing adventures he would frequently climb Snowbird after work and ride the tram back down.

His greatest accomplishment is his family.  He enjoyed taking them on many family vacations. He loved Christmas and took great pride in his Christmas lights.  He was an avid reader and would read the daily newspaper cover to cover for his entire adult life. He enjoyed watching the news and many different sports, especially the Jazz. He was a car enthusiast and owned a 40 plus year collection of Car and Driver Magazine.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Susan Stevens Davis of 44 years and his Children: Emily (Kerry) Chidester, Lehi, UT; Todd Davis, Murray, UT; Scott (Cassee) Davis, Henderson, NV; and his grandchildren: Owen, Carson, Sadie, Logan, Landon, Maleah, Lucas and Lexee. He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Luella) Davis, Bob Davis, and Sister-in-law Cookie Davis, nieces and nephews and many other family members.

Mike is proceeded in death by his parents and his younger brother Steve Davis.
