1954 Mark 2024

Mark Arthur Williams

August 23, 1954 — June 1, 2024

West Jordan

Mark Arthur Williams age 69 of West Jordan, Utah returned to his Heavenly Father on June 1, 2024. He sustained a sudden illness and spent his last week in the home he built surrounded by the family he loved. He was born August 23rd,1954 to Miles Arthur and Elaine Williams in Salt Lake City, Utah. As the third of five siblings, Mark was welcomed by two doting sisters, Carolyn Elaine Williams and Marilyn (Dan) Cowan. He was followed by another sister, Jeanette Williams and brother, Larry (Angie) Williams.

In 1968, Mark moved to Lakewood, Colorado with his family and attended Bear Creek High School. In Colorado, he met and fell head over hills in love with Janis Jensen. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity June 1,1979, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Mark was known by many titles in this life. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He had the honor of being called Husband and best friend to the love of his life, Janis. He was the father to 2 beautiful girls, Karen (Matt) Forsberg and Katie (Scott) Jensen, and was Papa to 3 amazing grandchildren, Stephanie Jensen, Joey Scott Jensen, and David Arthur Jensen.

Mark’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He would light up anytime they would call him or walk into the room to visit. He was the first to cheer them on or congratulate them for any accomplishment. He loved to teach them new skills and watch sports with them.

Mark was a general contractor and a quality craftsman. Not only was that his profession, but his go-to philosophy on life. He believed hard work and honesty were key to being successful. He and Janis built a beautiful, caring and nurturing home for their family that will forever be a legacy, built with love.

Mark was an obedient and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He honored his Temple and Priesthood covenants and raised his family to love the gospel. He served a 2-year Mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil and a 3-year couples Mission at a girl’s camp with Janis in the mountains of Sanpete County. He held many different callings throughout the years in service to the Lord. He spent countless hours researching family history and doing genealogy with the goal of getting the Temple work done for his ancestors.

Mark helped to build The Williams Family Cabin. The Cabin was a second home for Mark and was his favorite place to spend time with his family. He was an avid hunter and spent many early mornings at the break-of-dawn, outdoors in the wild, hiking the hills. The quaking aspen trees spoke his language. A favorite pastime was to gather all the family up in the back of his truck and tour the hills, delightfully looking for wildlife. Everyone jostled to spot the first beaver at a pond or an Elk in the trees. He loved snowmobiles, four wheelers, jet skis, and anything else that went fast and took him outdoors. Mark loved life.

As an uncle to 13 nieces and nephews, all grown and now with families of their own, Mark made you feel safe, special, and cared for. He never missed an opportunity to serve others. He always showed up when someone was in need, whether it be a blessing or support in moving furniture, he was a true family man.

Mark and his love of laughter will be missed by all that knew him. His family finds great joy in knowing this is not the end and they will see him again. Families are forever.
