MARCIA S. ANDERTON
1938-2014

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings ... they are calling me and I must go ... "

Marcia Carolyn Smith Anderton, 75, passed away April 30, 2014 , a victim of Alzheimer ' s disease. She was born September 2, 1938, in Salt Lake City , Utah, to Russell Atkinson Smith and Afton Louisa Terry Smith. She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City on May 31, 1956. She was an accomplished member of the debate teams at East High and the University of Utah. She worked as secretary to the late Ken Garff before she married Allen Anderton, with whom she raised two daughters, Nola and Laurel. They were later divorced , but the family enjoyed many camping trips as the girls were growing up. Subsequently she began a new career as a Realtor with Century 21 Boone Newson Realtors , where she met Boone Newson who has been her loving companion for the past 35 years.

Her passions in life were reading, hiking in the mountains with her daughters, traveling to new places (including several trips to Europe and one to South America), running (she completed the St. George marathon one year), walking with and loving her dogs (Licorice, Cathy I, Paula, Cathy II, and Bandit) , enjoying good food (especially the sweet variety), and appreciating and taking pictures of wildflowers. Marcia was an excellent artist and photographer. She was a champion organizer and could always be depended on
to keep things running smoothly. She also went to great lengths to help any family member in need.

Survived by Allen Anderton , Salt Lake City; Boone Newson, Sandy; Marcia's sister, Donna Vincenti, Moscow, ID; her two daughters , Nola Anderton, Sandy; Laurel Anderton (Steve Walker), Logan, UT; and her dogs Cathy II and Bandit.

Family and friends are invited to an informal memorial remembrance at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E Bengal Blvd (7600 S) , Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6-9 pm.

A special note of thanks to the management, staff and incredible caregivers at Canyon Creek Memory Care and to the staff at Hospice For Utah. They all made Marcia's time in their care a pleasant experience both for her and her family .
