Salt Lake City, UT - Mabel Engnia Larsen Hansen, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Neighbor, and Friend, passed away peacefully, through the veil, on January 26, 2024 at the age of 94 years old. We know it was a glorious occasion to be reunited with her eternal sweetheart, Walt; a reunion which she had been patiently awaiting for the last 38 ½ years.

She was born to Otto Edvard Larsen and Anine Kristine Krogh on August 30, 1929 and was raised in Aalborg, Denmark. She grew up in a family of 13 children and is the last child on this earth to now be reunited with her eternal family. She loved her home country of Denmark. After saving her money to immigrate to America, she left Denmark on the “SS Stockholm” on May 16, 1950 and arrived in the United States on May 24, 1950. She was a house maid and nanny for several families that she served and loved as her own. On August 18, 1955, she became an American Citizen and loved all the blessings that it brought into her life. Through the Danish singles ward in Salt Lake City, she met Walt at a Conference Choir program. He walked her home and their love story began.

On December 2, 1955, she married and was sealed to Walther Collingford Hansen in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They started their family of three boys and one girl. Mabel served and taught her family the value of hard work, unwavering faith, bravery and love. She served in numerous Church callings and found joy in serving her Father in Heaven. She mixed her Danish Traditions with American flair. Her Christmas cookies, dancing around the Christmas tree, picnics, 4th of July parties, and all of her delicious food that she prepared was truly special. Walt passed away on July 26, 1985 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS-Lou Gehrigs Disease). Mabel cared for him throughout his sickness. She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ here on this earth for Walt and their family. She has served her Heavenly Father as a true follower of her Savior. She loved and would serve everyone around her. When Walt passed away, she went to work for the University of Utah as a receptionist for the College of Business. She served a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1995-96 in the North Carolina Raleigh mission. She worked in the office for the Mission President as the Financial Secretary. She loved serving and testifying of the Gospel. When she returned from her mission, she served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for over 15 years. Her testimony has inspired many and will continue to bless her family in generations to come.

She is survived by her four children; Stephen (Raelynn), Danny (Carol), Lowell (Kathy), and Irina Baird. She is survived by 18 grandchildren and 53 Great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walther Collingford Hansen, her 12 brothers and sisters and one great-grandson.
