Luke Gregory Nelson, son, brother, uncle, friend passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born January 14, 1972 in Mesa Arizona to Verne T. and Shirley Nelson. Luke was born with a zest for life and full of adventure. His family welcomed him with excitement and there was never a dull moment.  He met his equal, Duke Burks, and together the mischief began.  Luke attended Salk Elementary where he was awarded the “Salk Athlete Trophy”.  He was a proud Fremont Falcon and attended Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona.  Luke’s family moved to Utah where he attended Olympus High and Graduated from Skyline.

Luke was a graduate of LDS seminary and served an LDS mission to Dallas Texas, there he met lifetime friend Bret Cook.  He had a love for learning and attended Salt Lake Community College.

His heart stayed true to Arizona sports.  He loved the Phoenix Suns and was an avid Arizona Wildcats fan, encouraging family and friends to “Bear Down”.

Luke enjoyed poetry, reading, movies and traveling across America, Europe and South America.  Luke loved music and enjoyed playing the drums.  He was always the life of the party. Luke began his career in the family plumbing business in his teens.  Plumbing in California, Arizona, Nevada and Park City, Utah.

Luke had a love for his fellow men and never met a stranger. Often he would offer assistance to the downtrodden.  Luke was a strong supporter of small business, commonly patronizing the “Ma & Pop shops”.

Luke is survived by his loving parents, Verne T. and Shirley Nelson, sisters Rolinda Tidwell (Randy), Peggy and brothers, Shane (ChongSun), Daniel (Marie) and Matthew (Deborah). Luke was a loving and caring uncle to 32 nieces and nephews and 40 great nieces and great nephews. Luke is now reunited with his brother and best friend Rick, grandparents, and his legendary and ever faithful dog (son) Roscoe Titus.

A celebration of  life will be held, Saturday, March 21, 2015,  10:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel, 2301 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.), Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
