Lois Mae Davidson Howells

1926 – 2012

Lois was born May 18, 1926, the second of three children to Emery L. and Mae Petersen Davidson in Ephraim, Utah. She grew up in Ephraim, graduated high school in 1944. Lois moved with her family to Salt Lake City in 1944. She graduated LDS Business College and then worked at Western Union and Mountain Bell Telephone as an operator and office worker.

She married Dale G. Howells in Lyman, Wyoming, October 8, 1949.  They had seven children, the joy of their lives, making good times and happy memories for them.

Lois was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School and attending the temple.

She loved to sew, do needle work, crafts, read, do geneaology and above all loved her family.  As the children got older, she went to work for the Salt Lake County Detention Center as a matron for 17 years.

Lois and Dale loved to travel and after their retirement in 1989, they spent 20 winters in Yuma, AZ as trailer snowbirds with their many dear friends and then later spent the winters in St. George.  She was a member of the Ephraim Club (school mates from Ephraim) they met once a month for lunch and card games.  They have been meeting for over 50 years.

Lois is survived by her husband, 7 children and their spouses, Cheryl (Donald) Vest, Janice Brierley, Valene Kipp, James (Sharon), Vaughn (Lori), Jay and Chris, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law, Carma Davidson and nieces and nephews.  Lois is preceded in death by two brothers, Emery Lloyd Davidson and Don L. Davidson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood 8 th Ward, 6301 South 2300 East.  Friends may call Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Ward from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the day of the services at the Ward from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.  Interment Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. Paradise City Cemetery, Paradise, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Lois’ name.
