Lois M Garner

Our beautiful, beloved Mother, Lois M. Garner passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 8, 2026 at the age of 95.

She was born on February 7, 1931 to Raymond L. Hill and Ila Mae Hill in Ogden, Utah. She married the love of her life Melvin E."Bud" Garner on October 5, 1955 in Elko, Nevada and had 3 children: Kathy, Steve and Lori.

She was a talented seamstress and made beautiful clothing for her children, grandchildren, our Grandmother Garner, and a beautiful wedding dress for her sister in law. She was a wonderful cook and made cook books with all of her favorite recipes for all of her children & friends. She knitted beautiful sweaters and made hand tied quilts for our homes and baby quilts for the grandchildren. She loved canning food with our Grandma Garner and Aunts.

She loved flowers and gardening and had the most beautiful flower beds. Growing up she had planted a beautiful "secret garden" behind the family garage that no one knew about. She saved her money so she could buy flower seeds. She lovingly planted the seeds and nurtured her beautiful hidden garden. She loved to mow her lawn up until age 80. She was an avid reader throughout her life. Her favorites were romance books. She loved tea and reading about the Royals in England since her ancestors had immigrated from Wales. She loved shopping and going to plays with her friends.

She loved the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite. She would make a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner with the table always beautifully set with her best china and silverware. On Christmas Eve we would come to her home and exchange gag gifts with the family, sing Christmas carols and read The Night Before Christmas. On Christmas morning we would arrive early for blueberry muffins and coffee. There was always a huge amount of gifts under her Christmas tree for us. Then a beautiful lunch for us to enjoy. Mom made every holiday special for us and made sure everyone had a wonderful birthday party with lots of food and gifts.

We will miss Mom so very much. She was kind, sweet, thoughtful, and sentimental. Mom wanted us to express her love and gratitude to her family, all of her wonderful in-laws, her friends and neighbors, and especially send all her love to her beloved kids, grandkids and great grandkids. We are happy she is reunited in heaven with her soul mate - the love of her life - our Dad whom she has missed for the last 22 years. What a grand reunion they are having!!

She is survived by her 3 children, Kathy, Steve (Cindy) and Lori (Dan), 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bud, Parents: Raymond and Ila, her sister Donna Joyce and Grandson Ryan "Rudy" Chittock.

We would like to offer a very special thank you to Ellen and Albert Urquidi for their loving support and for bringing Mom beautiful gifts for every holiday throughout the years that brought her much joy. To our wonderful friend Steve Coonradt who was always there for mom in a moment’s notice whenever she need anything. To Kay Lee, Tammy Christensen and Donna Simpson for bringing Mom food and who visited her often. We would also like to express our deep appreciation to the staff at Canyon Home and Hospice and Cannon Mortuary for their exceptional care of our Mom. Thank you to everyone who helped ease Moms sadness over the past 22 years since Dad returned to his heavenly home.

A grave side service will be held at the Hooper City Cemetery, 5300 South 6300 West, Hooper, Utah on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 2:00p.m. - 3:00p.m.
