LaRee Newton Chaston
“Grandma Ree”

Our beloved mother, LaRee Newton Chaston passed away May 17, 2011, in Monroe, Utah of natural causes. She was born on October 29, 1928 to Fredrick Earl Newton and Isabella Ellsworth Newton, in Mona, Utah, at the family home. The family moved to Salt Lake when she was thirteen years of age. She married our father, Victor Walker Chaston on September 3, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 56 years. They are the parents of five sons and three daughters. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, gardener, and enjoyed dancing and bowling with her husband. She loved anything pink. She enjoyed making friends and her home was open to anyone in need. She had a long and varied career putting to use her accounting and secretarial skills. She attended the U of U and LDS Business College.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in all organizations. She served in the Jordan River Temple and together with her husband served a mission in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She is survived by her five sons, three daughters and their spouses, Brent (Sheila), Doug (Marsha), Jeff (Diane), Mike (Dawn), and Steve (Diana), Becky (Ray) Grow, Susan (Tim) Strebel and Vala Ree (Marlon) Andersen. She was the happy grandmother of 37 grandchildren, and 64 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Rex (Carol) Newton, brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and four grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Brighton 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 2925 E. Bengal Blvd. (7800 S.) Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E.Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.), Friday May 20, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Estates.
