Judy Robbins Emery

February 9, 1951–October 10, 2015

Judy Robbins Emery passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at home following a battle with cancer. Judy was born in Salt Lake City on Feb. 9, 1951, the oldest child of Lewis Earl and Margene Fife Robbins. She married Dennis Newman Emery on Sept. 9, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Judy declared herself to be “just a simple woman,” but in fact, everything she did was done with excellence, cheerfulness, and great kindness. She talked and made a friend of everyone she met.  Judy made every family event a party. Her Thanksgiving rolls were so good that some guests wanted to eat only the rolls!  Judy was an avid U of U sports fan, and somehow she always had a bag of special “touchdown cookies” to pass around at the game each time her beloved Utes scored. She loved Utah baseball games, was an absolute fixture at Utah’s volleyball games, and was devoted to the gymnastics team, often traveling to see the Red Rocks compete. To many of the gymnasts she was simply “Aunt Judy.”  Whether she was serving as a Beehive leader or a Primary music director, she took on every ward and stake calling with energy and passion. Judy was a remarkable seamstress, sewing Raggedy Ann dolls, smocked dresses, and beautiful quilts. Above all, Judy loved her husband, son and daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren. With delight she was able to spend a great deal of time with Peterson and Piper in the last few years. She loved taking them to the library, to swim lessons, and even helping them learn to read. Judy was also a great supporter of her nieces and nephews.

Judy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dennis Emery; son, Matthew (Arien) Emery; and grandchildren Peterson and Piper Emery. She is also survived by her mother Margene Robbins; brothers Lamont (Connie) Robbins, Gordon (Susan) Robbins; and sisters Deena (Dan) Lofgren and Jana (Mark) Paul. She was preceded in death by father, Lewis Earl Robbins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Willow Creek First Ward building at 2115 Sublette Place (8450 S.)  Sandy, Utah. Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015  from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd (7600 S.), and the day of the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.
