John Edwin Snyder

John Edwin Snyder was born December 4, 1925 in Provo, Utah to Claude and Etta Phillips Snyder. He suffered from Spinal Meningitis as a young child which resulted in his hearing loss. He attended the School for the Deaf in Colorado Springs, CO and later the Utah School for the Deaf where he met his wife of 65 years Connie Rae MaGann. They raised their 7 children in Murray, Utah.

John was a Teamster and retired from PIE Trucking after manyyears of dedicated service. He had an impeccable work ethic and led aproductive life. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting which heenjoyed with his family. He used his keen sense of mechanics and built anairboat for duck hunting in addition to numerous items he created over theyears.  He enjoyed woodworking andcarpentry as a hobby. He built many beautiful things for his family. He alwayshad some clever project going. He eventually donated all of his wood shopequipment to the Deaf Center.

A no-nonsense person, he was strong and despite the declinein his health he never complained. John passed away Sunday January 30 th at his home in Murray, Utah.  He will bemissed by his family and those who knew him.

Heis survived by his wife Connie, and their children Jon Snyder, Judy (Judy)Tittensor, Jackie (Bret) Stephensen, Jan Volmer, Jean (Gary) Robbins and JoleneSnyder.  Also survived by manygrandchildren and great grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He is preceded indeath by his daughter Joann and his grandchildren, John Cody, Kolby andGarrett.

Aviewing will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6pm until 8pm at CannonMortuary, 2460 E Bengal Blvd (7600). A graveside service will be held at MurrayCemetery, 5490 SouthVine Street, Friday, February 4 th at 11 am followed bya memorial luncheon at Canyons Church, 1700 East Fort Union Blvd. In lieu offlowers donations can be made to Canyons Church Deaf Ministry, CottonwoodHeights, Utah.
