Jay LeRoy Hoskins, age 75, passed away in Holladay, Utah on November 4, 2019. He was born October 23, 1944 in Salt Lake City Utah to Marion Morris Hoskins and Mary Helen Burt Hoskins. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from South High School in 1963, and then went on to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves.
He later pursued a career in the food service industry and worked for Western Airlines and the Marriot Corporation. After retiring, Jay worked at the Maplewood Golf Course in Renton, WA where he was part of the pro shop staff, a course marshal, a tournament score keeper, a member of the men’s golf club, and in between his duties, he played many, many rounds. He later moved back to Utah, where he worked at Dicks Sporting Goods until 3 weeks before his passing. Throughout his life, he loved baseball, softball, fishing, bowling, snow skiing, and golf. He was a great friend to many, and knew how to passionately coach any sports team through the TV. One of his greatest qualities was his willingness and ability to work hard at everything he did.
Jay is survived by his daughter Shannon Wolsky (Mike), his step daughter Leah Kuyt, step son Kevin Kuyt, sister in law Ina Hoskins, sister Charlene Peterson (Mike), brother Dale Hoskins (Nancy), step sisters Janet Mcphie and Christie Foster, step brothers Bruce Bawden (Terry), Shane Stoddard (in law), Jeffrey Bawden, and Robert Bawden (Helena).
A Celebration of Life will be held in Kent, Washington on Saturday, November 16th at 11:00 am at the Golden Steer. 23826 104th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98031. There will be light food served immediately following the celebration.
