Janice Staker Brown
1921 - 2012
Our beloved mother, Janice Staker Brown, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2012. She was born in Butlerville, Utah on December 21, 1921 to Roscoe M. Staker and May Jones Staker. She had a wonderful childhood, growing up with her big brother, Clinton, in Big Cottonwood Canyon. She attended the University of Utah and USC, graduating with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked with injured soldiers during and immediately after World War II. On May 18, 1946, she married John Neff Brown in Sandy, Utah. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2000. Up until a month ago, she lived in her own home and still drove her car. She is survived by her children, Marsha Gilliand, Marilyn Briggs, Terry (Erika) Brown, Jana (Rick) Marshall, Melissa (Andrew) Hofer, and Eric (Ann)Brown, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Clinton, daughter Brenda, and a great grandson. Special thanks to Melissa and her family for taking her into their home and caring for her this last month when she was ill.
A viewing will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd (7600 S.) on Friday, May 4
th
, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S. Highland Drive.
