George Jay, husband, dad, granddad, great granddad, and old carving buddy was born to Leora (Toots) Tomkinson and Thomas S. Jay in Ajo, Arizona. I passed away at age 85 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
I had a good childhood growing up in the little mining town of Ajo, Arizona. I was married in 1954 to Deanna Kimes and three wonderful children were born to this union, Thomas E. Jay (Kateri), Roger W. Jay (deceased), and Sherill Armstrong (Robert). I was later divorced. I then married the love of my life Barbara Jo Jay and these 33 years have been the best and happiest years of my life. Barbara brought two wonderful children to this marriage, Melissa Diane Wilczek (Paul) and Michael D. Chaney (Jennifer). Together our great families have been blessed with a group of grandchildren including seven boys, four girls, and 4 great grandchildren. I was lucky enough to have had a great working career (if that is what you want to call it). I worked around the mining and energy companies. The best jobs I ever had were shining shoes at the local barbershop and pool hall in Ajo, Arizona and pumping gas as a kid.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 11, 2020 at Mountain View Memorial Estates.
