Gaylia Huntsman

January 11, 1938 — November 18, 2014

Gaylia Sorensen Huntsman
1938 - 2014

Gaylia was born January 11, 1938 in Centerfield, Utah on Grandma & Grandpa Jensen’s kitchen table.  She was born to Phyllis Jensen & Keith L. Sorensen.   She had the honor of living next door to her Grandpa Levi and Grandma Noni whom she adored and who influenced her life tremendously.  She has an adventurous Spirit.  She grew up baling hay, thinning beats, and working on the farm. She was the oldest of six children. She is the mother figure and best friend of all of her siblings.
Gaylia met the love of her life, Terral, in elementary school.  They were sealed in the Manti temple & have been married close to sixty years.   They started a family of their own, having six children.  Dani and Britt returned to their Heavenly Father as babies.  The other four, along with Terral, have enjoyed her extraordinary love and mothering.
Gaylia is a vibrant, elegant woman, with a love for life, Terral, God, family, friends and her birds.  She served the Lord in a variety of capacities; her greatest calling being that of finding & loving all of God’s children.  She is accepting of everyone.  Gaylia is comfortable in any setting, making sure all feel loved and welcome.  Gaylia, an elect lady, could make a room laugh or cry.  She has the incredible ability to connect with us and connect us to others.
Gaylia’s life is her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those she adopted into her life.  Her home is their home.  It is always filled with people, laughter, love, noise, food, and acceptance.  Grandma and Grandpa spend time following the grandchildren all over the valley watching baseball, lacrosse, basketball, water polo, swimming, cheerleading, equestrian competitions, soccer, theatrical performances, musical concerts, dancing, football and rodeo.  She loved hunting, camping, quilting, cooking, sewing, motorcycle riding, traveling, sunbathing, Lake Powell, gardening, flowers, and family, family, family.
She is survived by friends, temple patrons, presidencies, nieces, nephews, missionaries, in-laws, neighbors, lunch bunches, cousins, and her beloved family including her husband, Terral Huntsman; children, Lori (Dave ) Newton, Teralyn Featherstone, Lezlie (Tim) Harper, Kade (Kalli) Huntsman, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren,  her siblings, Iris Bradshaw, Suzette (Robert) Maxwell, Sheila (Gayle) Eyre, Kevin Sorensen and her Aunt Sybil Westlund.  She was preceded in death by her children Danette & Britt Huntsman; her parents, Keith & Phyllis Sorensen, and her sister Leanna Madsen.
We will miss you ‘til we meet again!
