Frieda Nielson Ross

August 1, 1930 – March 29, 2014

Frieda Nielson Ross, faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home, at the age of 83 from causes related to a lung illness. Mother was born August 1, 1930 in Bluewater, New Mexico, to Frihoff Peter and Marie Cluff Nielson. She married Robert Edward Ross in the Salt Lake Temple on September 9, 1948. He passed away on April 16, 1999.

Mother served three LDS Missions with her beloved companion to the Leeds, England Mission, the Atlanta Georgia Temple, and to Sharon, Vermont where she worked at the Visitors Center while Dad did the lighting for the Joseph Smith Memorial. After his passing, she was called to Preston England, and then was called to serve in the Salt Lake Family History Library in both Salt Lake City and Riverton, Utah. She and Dad also served for many years at the Jordan River Temple. She loved family history work and Temple work, where she served with all her heart. Her commitment to service to her family and friends will be her legacy, to those who knew and loved her and were recipients of her kindness. She maintained a beautiful example of a positive and noble life.

She is survived by her children, Tom (Linda) Ross, Charles (Sandi) Ross, David (Audrey) Ross, Nancy (Vincent) Landvatter, Peggy (Kevin) Crump, with 20 Grandchildren, 57 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great granddaughter. Also, sisters, Melba Cram, Wanda Ericson and sister-in-law, Lori Nielson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elaine Nielson, and brothers, Willis, Ivan, and Lars Nielson. Also sisters-in-law, Nina Nielson and Elberta Nielson and brothers-in-law, Mark Cram and Marshall Ericson.

Funeral Services will be held April 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Draper 16th Ward, 13112 South 700 East.  Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South) Thursday from 6:30-8:00 pm or from 9:30-10:30 on Friday at the church, prior to the service.  Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.

A tender thank you from our family to kind family and neighbors, to Suzie our wonderful nurse from IHC Hospice Service, and to Dr. Thomas Boud, her Care Giver and friend.
