Frances Elmer Day

October 12, 1944 — December 1, 2025

Frances Elmer Day passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1944, in the Payson hospital to her parents John Clark and Norma Elmer. Her brothers, Erland Elmer (Janice) and Stanley Elmer (Joanne) welcomed her to the world with her twin brother, Lowell.

Frances graduated from Payson High School and went on to earn her teaching degree from the University of Utah. She dedicated 39 years of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher at Howard R. Driggs Elementary and Carl Sandburg Elementary. Her excellence in education was recognized when she was honored as Teacher of the Year for the state of Utah.

On January 23, 2004, Frances was sealed to Dwight F Day in the Salt Lake Temple, starting a cherished partnership built on faith and devotion.

Frances served as the baptistry coordinator in the Salt Lake Temple for years, and served faithfully in numerous Church callings, including Stake Primary President, Stake Young Women’s President, Stake Relief Society Presidency, and Ward Relief Society President, among others.

Frances exemplified unconditional love throughout her life. She was kind, generous, gracious and humble, with a gift for making everyone feel special and cherished.

One of Frances’ greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. “Grandma days” filled with sugar cookie decorating, tiddlywinks, crafts, and storybooks will be fondly remembered. She shared her love of reading with her grandchildren, creating treasured moments. Frances was adored by her grandchildren, who will forever carry with them the memory of her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering love.

Frances found delight in life’s everyday moments and her infectious laugh brightened the lives of those around her. She was always open and abundant in her expressions of love, never missing an opportunity to remind her family how deeply she loved them.

Frances is survived by her twin brother Lowell Elmer (Susan), her loving husband, Dwight F Day; their five children: Paul Day (Marcia), Sharon Marks (Doug), DeAnn Day, Kathy Wright (Travis), Mark Day (Jackie), 22 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
