Farr Whitney Hansen, our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home on July 5, 2022 at the age of 92.
Farr was born June 3, 1930 in Mayfield, UT to Oliver and Eva Christiansen, and was the fourth of five children. He grew up in Holladay, UT and attended Granite High School, where he played baseball and football.
After graduating, Farr joined the Navy Reserve, and then served a mission to South Africa for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He later attended the University of Utah, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
He married his high school sweetheart, Billie Deane Taylor, in the Salt Lake Temple on July 31, 1953. They were blessed with four children, Vickie, David, Cindy, and Brad. As a family they enjoyed playing sports, watching Farr coach baseball and volleyball, and spent summers camping in Colter Bay. They were devastated when they lost Billie Deane to cancer in 1974.
In 1976, Farr married JoAnne Lewis, a beautiful mother to four children of her own, David, Cindy, Bryan, and Mike. Together they raised their 8 children, and have been blessed with 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and created a lifetime of memories and traditions that their posterity will fondly remember and carry on for years to come.
Farr loved sports, his family, the Gospel, and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a skilled craftsman, who spent many years building and selling incredible birdhouses. His favorite pastimes included golfing, working in his beautiful yard, and spending time with his family. He loved nothing more than having his kids and grandkids over every Sunday, and always made sure to have a jar full of candy, a fridge full of Pepsi, and a freezer full of popsicles for all to enjoy.
He is survived by his sister, Margrett Hansen Borup, his children Vickie (Randy) Osborne, David (Peggy) Lewis, David (Heidi) Hansen, Cindy (Tom) Costello, Cindy Blair, Brad (Julie) Hansen, Bryan (Becky) Lewis, Mike (Beth) Lewis, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11th at 11 o’clock am at the Holladay 7th Ward building, 4407 S Fortuna Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84124. Visitation will be held the same date and location from 10-10:45 am. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
