Falene Kathlene "Kat" Weeks

Oct 4, 1985 — Aug 2, 2026

Kaysville, UT

Some people leave behind photographs. Some leave behind paintings, inventions, businesses, or beautiful things they created with their hands.

Kat left behind people.

Falene Kathlene “Kat” Weeks, 40, passed away on August 2, 2026, in Ogden, Utah, after a courageous battle with leiomyosarcoma. She was born October 4, 1985, in Murray, Utah, to Elizabeth Jean Provost and Robert Kip McLean. Kat was an artist, designer, inventor, maker, performer, philosopher, mentor, confidant, and relentless creative force. She possessed the rare ability to see possibility where others saw the ordinary, whether in an object, an empty room, an impossible idea, or, most importantly, another human being.

She saw the spark before it became a flame.

For more than two decades, Kat helped shape Utah’s alternative arts, festival, haunt, maker, and creative communities. She transformed spaces into experiences and gatherings into worlds. Her imagination had its own language, filled with wild colors, eerie beauty, glowing lights, strange inventions, costumes, music, laughter, and the unexpected. She was the Costume Manager for Castle of Chaos for many years and was obsessive about that role. She built Ravens Leather Designs with her Partner Andrew “Corvus” Cazier and put her soul into everything they designed.

But perhaps Kat’s greatest creations were not things at all.

They were people.

Together with her partner Andrew “Corvus” Cazier, Kat created Corvids Curiosities, a theme camp whose name carried a special meaning. Corvids are known for gathering bright and unusual treasures, collectively called their “curiosity.”

Kat and Corvus collected something far more precious than sparkly rocks.

They collected shiny people.

The misfits. The artists and dreamers. The ADHD and autistic weirdos. The beautifully unconventional. The people who could somehow feel alone even in a room filled with people just like themselves.

They claimed them, treasured them, challenged them, and encouraged them to become the best and most authentic versions of themselves they could be.

Their community was built not only on acceptance, but on growth and accountability. Kat understood that growth is often messy. She believed in looking honestly at ourselves, owning our mistakes, learning from them, and trying again tomorrow to do a little better than we did today.

She saw people. She saw them for not just who they were, but for soup they could become. She gave people permission to become fully themselves and rejoiced at watching them spread their wings and fly.

Kat married Geoffrey Weeks on July 8, 2009, and shared many years of her life with him before his passing on August 8, 2022.

In the years that followed, Kat continued to love, create and build an extraordinary life. She is survived by her sister, Lisa Provost, and by her beloved partners, Andrew “Corvus” Cazier, Dakota “Oak” Thompson, and Darcie Wilken, as well as an enormous chosen family and community of artists, makers, performers, dreamers, friends, and wonderfully strange people whose lives are different because Kat was part of them.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Jean Provost; her father, Robert Kip McLean; and her husband, Geoffrey Weeks.

Even when cancer began demanding more and more from her body, Kat refused to allow it to define her life. She continued creating, traveling, gathering, laughing, loving, dreaming, and searching for the next adventure. Cancer became one chapter of Kat’s story. It was never the story itself.

The extraordinary outpouring of grief following her death tells the rest. Hundreds of people have shared photographs, memories, stories, and accounts of the ways Kat encouraged them, believed in them, challenged them, listened to them, created alongside them, or simply made them feel that they belonged.

Kat did not merely exist within a community.

She helped create its mythology.

She did not leave this world unchanged.

She rearranged it.

And those fortunate enough to have known her will carry pieces of that brilliant green-and-gold light forward whenever they create something strange and beautiful, welcome someone standing at the edge of the room, believe in someone’s impossible idea, own their mistakes, choose growth, gather their people, or refuse to become ordinary simply because ordinary would be easier.
