ELEANOR SMITH PATRICK RICHARDS

1925 - 2012

Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on September 19 , 2012 at t he age of 87. She was born April 30, 1925 in Salt Lake City. She was the daughter of William Thorn and Edith Eleanor Smith Patrick and was a granddaughter of President Joseph F. Smith. She was alwa y s very proud of her heritage.

She met her sweetheart , George G. Richards , at the University of Utah and they were married on September 12 , 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple b y her uncle , Joseph Fielding Smith.

Mom loved the Savior and always had a strong testimon y of the Gospel. She served faithfull y in all her church callings and worked for many y ears in the Jordan River Temple with her beloved husband. Mom truly loved her neighbors and fellow members of her ward and was always concerned for their well being. She was so appreciative of the y oung people who helped her in so many ways. She was very devoted to her friends over the years and loved to be with them.  She was a perfect example of love, charity and compassion.

Mom's first priority was her family and they brought her much joy in her life. Each child, grandchild, and great grandchild was special to her and she never missed a birthday. She loved and cared for our father with a devotion that was truly remarkable . She endured many physical difficulties in her life but always felt blessed by the Lord . She was a one of a kind and we look forward to the day when we can be with her again.

She was preceded in death by her husband George , her parents and siblings, Robert , Joseph , and Mar y. She is sur v i v ed b y her children George P. (Pat) Richards , Briant P. (Jeannie ) Richards , W. Charles (Holl y ) Richards and Loretta ( Dan) Neil, twelve grandchildren and 28 great grand children , a sister-in-law Tr i l v a Patrick and a brother-in-law Roy Ostler.

Our special thanks to the staff at the Residence of CareSource for their gentle care and concern for our Mother , which was a blessing to her and our famil y .

Funeral services will be held at 11 :00 a.m. on Monda y, September 24 , 2012 at the Sego Lil y Ward chapel located at 10310 South Ashle y Park Dri v e (2130 East) , Sand y , Utah . A viewing will be held on Sunda y night , September 2 3 , 2012 , from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary , 2460 East Benga l Blvd. (7800 South) , and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the ser v ice at the church. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn cemetery , 3401 South Highland Drive.
