Our angel mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully at home at the age of 93 surrounded by her family on Dec 14, 2025.
Elaine was married to her late husband Calvin Clark Harris for 71 years. Calvin passed away earlier this year on March 2, 2025. She is now joined with her sweetheart whom she missed dearly these past 9 months. Their posterity includes six children, 21 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Elaine was born to Marie Pack Hill and Golden Return Hill. She was taught the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in her home and comes from an ancestry of great faith and pioneer heritage. Elaine admired her ancestors and enjoyed reading and sharing their faith-filled stories.
Elaine was devoted to her family. Her kitchen was the heart of the home and was continually filled with fresh fruits and vegetables from their garden. Calvin was the master Gardner and Elaine was the master Harvester. She prepared family dinners daily which were filled with the harvest including her canned peaches and pears. The aroma of her freshly baked bread, pies and a variety of baked goods continually filled her home. Elaine had a love for children and a gift for nurturing them. She was kind and gentle and quick to laugh. Through her loving guidance and faith-filled example she blessed the lives of her children and grandchildren and many other children that she cared for in her home. Elaine was also a talented seamstress. She spent hours upon hours sewing and especially enjoyed making Easter dresses for her five girls. She loved Christmas-time and created traditions that brought the family together to feel the peace and love of the season. She was the ultimate homemaker.
Elaine enjoyed summer vacations with her children and grandchildren especially camping trips with Calvin’s love for fishing. Later in life she enjoyed vacationing to many church history sites. She lived in her home with Calvin for more than 60 years and created lasting friendships there which she cherished. Elaine loved to serve others and did so through many church callings over the years. Later in life she served a mission with Calvin in Nauvoo, IL.
We will miss our dear mother.
