Dorothy Ann Bloomdale

It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Dorothy (Dottie) Ann Bloomdale. Dottie departed this world peacefully on July 21, 2026, at the age of 100, at Spring Gardens Senior Center. She was born on September 22, 1925, in the close-knit community of Magna, Utah, to Harry Martin Nicholson and Margaret Myrl Cheever.

Dottie's journey through life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community. She is predeceased by her loving parents, her sister Evelyn Vaughan, and her granddaughter Sarah. She is survived by her children, Randall (Alene) and Brent; her sister, Viola Clayton; her grandchildren, Nathan, Misha, Mary, Kristen, Russell, and Katelyn; and her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Savannah, Ella, Asher, Lillie, Lucas, Eliza, Zac, Charlotte, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Xander. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to be cherished. 

Dottie graduated from Jordan High School in 1943. She married Robert Edward Bloomdale on June 16, 1949, later divorcing in 1964. Dottie was a talented executive secretary, whose exceptional skills were sought after for over two decades. Despite her professional success, her greatest pride and joy were the relationships she nurtured with her family and friends. As a single mother, she poured her heart into raising her two sons and later extended her nurturing spirit to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dottie was an active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in various roles including Relief Society President, Primary Teacher, and Librarian. Her faith and dedication to her church were reflected in her support and encouragement of her sons' full time church missions. She also organized a single women's lunch bunch that became a cherished tradition for decades.

A woman of many interests, Dottie was known not only for her sharp intellect and fast typing skills, but also for her love of social gatherings. She was a formidable bowler, a skilled card player, and a dedicated volunteer at local hospitals and voting districts. She also enjoyed fulfilling a church service mission for many years. Her passion for the Utah Jazz was well known, as was her willingness to provide a helping hand and a welcoming home to anyone in need.

Dottie had a gift for making others feel special, always greeting the day with her signature song, "Oh what a beautiful morning." Her optimism was contagious, leaving those around her feeling loved and uplifted. She was described as being beautiful, classy, and always looking put together. Her remarkable memory and sense of humor were the hallmarks of her character, as was her tendency to worry about everyone she loved. Her door was always open, and her heart was always full.

A viewing celebrating Dottie's extraordinary life will be held 27-Jul-2026 at 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the Greenfield LDS Chapel, located at 6634 S Greenfield Way (1800 East), Cottonwood Heights, Utah. All who knew and loved Dottie are invited to join in commemorating her remarkable journey. A graveside service for family will immediately follow at the Highland City Cemetery. Dottie's century of life was a testament to the power of humor, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
