Donna Sandberg Cook

Donna Sandberg Cook passed away peacefully June 18, 2013 at the age of 86. Donna was born January 1, 1927 in Grantsville, UT to Susan Jane Hammond and Daniel Swen Sandberg. She was the youngest of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death. She was married in the Logan, Utah Temple to Terrance LeRoy (Roy) Cook. They spent more than 60 years together until Roy’s death in February 2012. They are now reunited eternally after being separated for a long eighteen months.
Donna was a hard worker. During WWII she worked at the Tooele Army Depot alongside Italian prisoners of war. She also spent 20 years working as a bookkeeper at Beehive Appliance in Salt Lake City.
Donna loved to can fruit, quilt, and work in the yard. Roy and Donna worked tirelessly in the church doing humanitarian aid, genealogy, and temple work. They also served a three year mission, assigned to the member locator department at church headquarters. She served in the Stake Relief Society, as Ward Relief Society President, and Primary President. She was a member of the DUP.
Family meant everything to Roy and Donna. She is survived by daughter Kathleen Loewy of Cottonwood Heights, son Dan (Mareen) of Saint George, and Janeen (Craig) Gaisford of Cottonwood Heights. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Krystal Loewy, Steven (Jennifer) Loewy, David Cook, Adam Cook, Kelsie Cook, Nichole (Philip) Swink, Allison (Sean) Steinman, Loni Gaisford and three great grandchildren Alex Whisler, Andie Whisler, Sammy Loewy, with two on the way. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Terrance LeRoy Cook and son-in-law James Loewy.
Many thanks to the many staff members at Midas Creek Home Healthcare, Sunrise of Sandy and Solstice Hospice who took care of her over the past few months. We would also like to thank the Forestview Ward, and her incredible
neighbors for their wonderful service to Roy and Donna.
A viewing will be held on June 24, 2013 from 9:30 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. at the Forestview Ward, located at 1111 E. Charleton Ave, Salt Lake City, Utah. A short graveside service will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr.
